Born to Ken and Lillie in Brunswick, Georgia where his father was stationed with the United States Navy.
After originally being told that K.L. was simply a "lazy baby", Ken and Lillie continued seeking medical advice and K.L. was eventually given a diagnosis of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. At the same time, he was given a life expectancy of 3 years.
After originally declaring as a pre-law student, K.L. switched and ultimately graduated with a degree in Advertising.
Building on his formal education in advertising and having a passion for filmmaking, K.L. starts a video production company that goes on to produce projects for regional and international companies and organizations including Harley-Davidson, Relay for Life, and Carle Health.
Finding poker as a competitive outlet through Twitch, K.L. is introduced to the industry at large and connects with some of his most meaningful friendships.
With some encouragement from his poker study group, K.L. submits a video and ultimately wins a seat to play in the Main Event where he lived out his dream of playing and cashing in the most prestigious poker tournament in the world!
K.L. starts receiving coaching and backing from Ryan Laplante to officially start his professional poker career and eventually joins Team 651 as their only American player aside from Ryan.
Building on his friendship with Ryan, K.L. joins LearnProPoker as the lead content editor and expands into a site management roll.
After his WSOP Main Event run, K.L. was frustrated with the lack of valuable resources designed to help players effectively learn and memorize ranges. Seeing an opportunity, K.L. worked with app developer and part-time poker player Matt McElligott to design and perfect an app that poker players of any ability level can find value in. In 2019, that work culminated in the release of RangeTrainerPro.
In the wake of Covid-19, K.L. secures sponsorship to play his first ever full schedule of live events in Las Vegas.
For a second year, K.L. competes in a complete summer schedule in the inaugural WSOP at The Horseshoe while being followed by a documentary film crew.
After working unsuccessfully for months to secure sponsorship for a 3rd consecutive WSOP schedule, K.L. finds himself wrestling with the fact that he will not be traveling to Las Vegas in summer 2023.
